BRITISH CONTRIBUTION TO THE WINE WORLD

Raffles London at the OWO

British Contribution to the Wine World

The Old War Office building historically, contributed to expanding and protecting British territories overseas and their trade structures. Far flung trading routes transformed Britain’s wine consumption, where previously most wines consumed were of European origin. Over the 20th century the accessibility and popularity of wine from the America’s, Australia and South Africa grew to become as popular as wines from Europe. Our sommelier team have used historical insight to guide guests through a tasting comparing wines from former countries that were then British territories (British Trade Route Wines) and those traded with other nations (Global Trade Route Wines).
