SILENT HARMONY
Experience pure tranquillity on Bali’s Day of Silence
What is Nyepi?
As the island welcomes its New Year’s Day, Silent Day, on 29 March 2025, we invite you to witness its profound cultural essence. Experience the moment when Bali surrenders to silence, and in the absence of noise, the beauty of existence emerges—pure and unbroken.
Nyepi, Bali’s sacred Day of Silence, marks the Balinese New Year with a full day of stillness, reflection, and renewal. From 6.00am on 29 March 2025 to 6.00am the following day, the island embraces complete silence—no lights, no travel, and no activity—allowing nature to breathe and spirits to realign.
Every detail is perfectly arranged by your Raffles Butler, ensuring that your journey is as effortless as it is remarkable. Finish each day with refined dining at Raffles Bali’s signature venues, from the secluded charm of The Secret Cave to serene beachfront settings.
Island traditions leading to Nyepi
The days before Nyepi stand in striking contrast to its profound silence. Experience the Ogoh-Ogoh parade, where towering effigies are carried through the streets before being set aflame to dispel negative energies. Participate in a Melukat water purification ritual, an ancient cleansing practice that prepares both body and soul for the year ahead.
Nyepi guidelines
While hotels are exempt from Nyepi’s stringent regulations, public roads will be closed to both pedestrians and vehicles (except for emergencies), overseen by village wardens (Pecalang) to ensure compliance. This sacred day sets Bali apart as a truly unique island.
On Nyepi Day, check-ins and check-outs will not be possible. If you are staying with us during this time, please be aware of the following:
• Ngurah Rai International Airport will be closed, with no flights operating for 24 hours.
• All transportation services across Bali will be suspended.
• All businesses, including shops, will remain closed.
• Beaches and streets will be off-limits to pedestrian traffic.
• Guests are required to remain within the confines of the resort.
• In the evening, please ensure all curtains in your villa are drawn to prevent light from escaping.
• When using music or television within your villa, kindly keep noise levels to a minimum.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in observing this significant tradition.
